Since the galleries opening in 2004, Ruth has established an enviable portfolio of reputable publishing houses and independent artists bringing fantastic contemporary art to the high street. Indulging her personal love of art Ruth seeks out some of the most amazing artists including those that are established and those embarking on careers. This is reflected when Ruth shows you round her gallery – her stories about the artists and their pictures are conveyed in her own unique style of passion, humour and warmth.
Ruth expanded the business in 2014 and opened an additional gallery at the nearby Yorkshire Wildlife Park before it was evident that the business just needed a new home to cope with its success and popularity. Since the Summer of 2016 Ruth is now the proud custodian of the iconic town hall in Bawtry, breathing new life into the old building which occupies a prime position in the town.
Contained within is the somewhat legendary ‘Stairs of Fame’ where visiting artists create a unique piece of work for Ruth’s staircase gallery. Eye catching though they are it’s often Ruth’s penchant for striking tights that overshadows the works of art in the photos that are taken!
Surprisingly Ruth can’t draw or paint herself but one thing is clear – she certainly knows a thing or two about art!
