What is a Giclée Print? – pronounced ‘zhee-klay’

A Giclée print signifies a top-tier reproduction of fine art. This process involves spraying archival pigment inks onto archival fine art paper or canvas. Jack Duganne introduced the term ‘Giclée,’ borrowing from the French word ‘gicler,’ signifying ‘to spray or squirt liquid.’ Consequently, ‘giclée print’ precisely delineates the printing method employed. It commences with creating high-resolution digital captures of original artwork, which are then meticulously printed with archival quality inks on archival fine art substrates. The choice of canvas and fine art papers ensures that Giclée prints offer exceptional stability and lightfastness.
