Biography

Chris Bourne – The Woodland Comes Alive

Background

Chris Bourne, originating from the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, developed a profound love and respect for nature at a tender age. Subsequently, after completing his degree at Berkshire College of Art, Chris embarked on a career as an Art Director in the bustling metropolis of London, a journey that spanned more than a decade.

Roots

Nonetheless, an inner longing to reconnect with the natural world beckoned Chris back to his roots. In recent years, he made a life-altering decision to relocate to Surrey. Here, he wholeheartedly embraced the role of a full-time artist. His days are now dedicated to wandering amidst the rolling hills, his ever-present sketchbook in hand. As he traverses the local footpaths and meanders through fields, Chris harnesses the play of light and color in his surroundings, meticulously documenting his observations. These observations become the foundation of his intricate paintings.

Technique

Chris’s artistry unfolds through a meticulous process, involving numerous layers of color. This technique is reminiscent of the pointillist approach famously employed by the Impressionist painters. His dream-like artworks have earned widespread acclaim for their remarkable ability to capture a timeless innocence. They eloquently convey the serenity and tranquility of the English countryside.
