Biography

Corinne Young – Wilds of the Ocean

Early Life and Education

Corinne Young is an award-winning oil painter based in North Devon. She graduated from Plymouth University in 2014 with a degree in Fine Art. From an early stage, she developed a strong interest in figurative painting, which continues to shape her work today.

Artistic Career and Achievements

In 2016, Corinne co-founded an art gallery, studio, and specialist fine art printing business in Barnstaple with her business partner, Sarah Jackson. This venture allowed her to grow creatively while building strong connections within the art community.

Since then, Corinne has exhibited her work across the UK and internationally. Notably, she has also showcased her art in Saudi Arabia, where she spent much of her early life. As a result, her work reflects a subtle blend of cultural influences.

Her achievements include winning the prestigious Holly Bush Emerging Women Artists Award in Hampstead in 2020. More recently, she earned selection for the Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. These milestones highlight her growing reputation in the contemporary art world.

Style and Inspiration

Corinne focuses on the female form, using portraiture as her primary subject. She paints in oils and applies a contemporary realism style that feels both expressive and refined. In addition, she captures emotion through careful composition and confident brushwork.

Her work explores themes of identity, strength, and vulnerability. Therefore, each painting invites the viewer to connect on a deeper level.

Current Work

Currently, Corinne is developing a striking series based on figurative open water swimmers. This body of work pushes her practice further and represents her most innovative direction to date. Moreover, these pieces highlight movement, freedom, and exposure, both physically and emotionally.
