Nigel Cooke – Exploring Amsterdam

Nigel Cooke was born in Mirfield, Yorkshire, and has art running through his veins. From an early age, he showed a natural creative talent, which later developed into a successful artistic career.

Early Career and Creative Beginnings

After leaving school, Nigel joined the Merchant Navy. However, his creative instincts soon led him in a different direction.

He later worked as a resident caricaturist and entertainer at Butlins. This role allowed him to develop his distinctive drawing style while engaging with audiences.

As his reputation grew, Nigel opened caricature concessions at major locations. These included Blackpool Central Pier, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the Trafford Centre in Manchester, and Alton Towers.

International Work and Experience

Nigel’s talent also took him overseas. For example, he worked as a character designer for Hong Kong-based C.I.M International.

In addition, he remains a member of the National Caricature Network in the USA, further strengthening his international profile.

During this time, Nigel travelled extensively. As a result, he gained inspiration from cities and cultures around the world.

After many years working as a caricature artist, Nigel began to expand his creative focus.
