Biography
Paola Cassais – On The Slopes
Paola Cassais was born in the vibrant city of Florence, Italy, in 1970. A self-taught artist, she began her creative journey working in decoration and window dressing. Inspired by her father, who was also a painter, she gradually transitioned into a professional art career.
From the start, Cassais approached art with purpose and passion. She focused not only on personal expression but also on the evolution of Italian art and the role of the artist in society. Her commitment to both creativity and environmental awareness led her to join several influential artistic groups in Italy. These groups explored new figurative styles within the broader movement of Informalism.
Over time, Paola Cassais developed a unique visual language. Her early work embraced expressionism and provocation, reflecting her strong artistic voice. During the 1990s, she shifted her focus to urban landscapes, simplifying forms and adopting a subtle palette of greys, blues, and ochres. This period gave rise to what some have called “spaces of solitude.”
In more recent years, her work has evolved once again. She now explores the concept of static movement in painting. Her compositions frequently feature joyful crowds, which she uses to examine visual rhythm and the boundaries of traditional figurative art.
Cassais is especially known for her vibrant beach scenes, full of color, life, and movement. These paintings capture the energy of the crowd while maintaining a strong sense of artistic control.
Today, her artwork is collected and exhibited across Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
