Biography

Sarah Jackson – Wanderlust

Background

Sarah’s upbringing along the Cornish coast immersed her in nature, wildlife, and adventure during her childhood. These experiences profoundly shaped her values regarding animals and the natural world, which are now evident in her artwork.

She crafts her art using recycled magazines, aligning with her eco-conscious philosophy. Through her mastery of collage, she achieves a paint-like quality in her work, often mistaken for traditional painting at first glance.

Post-University Career

Upon graduating from Falmouth University in 2011 with an Illustration degree, Sarah embarked on a freelance editorial illustrator career. Her talent attracted commissions from prestigious clients like The Wall Street Journal, German Wings airline, and Starbucks. Simultaneously, she dedicated time to personal projects, expanding her portfolio and showcasing her art in numerous galleries. Her innovative use of collage quickly gained popularity.

Awards and Recognition

In March 2023, Sarah earned the esteemed Ronald Morgan Memorial Award at The Royal Society of British Artists exhibition held at Mall Galleries. Additionally, she received a “Highly Commended” recognition from the De Laszlo Foundation at the same event.

Sarah has also achieved finalist status in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist Of The Year Award in previous years, a competition closely aligned with her principles and passion for our environment and the natural world.

What is a Giclée Print? – pronounced ‘zhee-klay’

So, a giclée print is a high quality fine art reproduction. Archival pigment inks are sprayed on to an archival fine art paper or canvas.
Because of this, Jack Duganne coined the term ‘Giclée’, since it’s a French word meaning ‘a spray or a squirt of liquid’. The term ‘giclée print’ is used to describe the giclée printing process. Accordingly, images are created from the high-resolution digital capture of original artwork. Then they are printed using archival quality inks onto archival fine art substrates. Hence, canvas and fine art papers are used to achieve giclée prints with exceptional stability and lightfastness.
