Siobhan McEvoy – Vibrant Blues – Original. Hand Signed by the Artist
Background
Dublin born and bred and now Norwich, Norfolk however is home. Her love of art stems back from her childhood. McEvoy loves drawing or filling her imagination with ideas, meanwhile, she spends lots of time in the beautiful meadows near the family home.
Inspiration
McEvoy loves the use of colour and she enjoys mixing acrylics. The vibrant and beautiful shades and colours are something of a trademark. Siobhan’s work is generally bold and colourful and she uses mainly acrylic on canvas.
Her work focuses on the natural landscape and human connection with nature. For instance, she likes to portray a scene or landscape in its obvious beauty of light, colour and texture.
Above all, Siobhan has a passion for working with textures and impasto techniques, as you can see in her paintings. See below for an explanation of the impasto painting.
Consequently, Siobhan enjoys painting landscapes as well as the nature that is on her doorstep. She is not consciously influenced by any particular artists. Creating instead, her own individual style. Art is her passion and something that makes her feel whole.

What is Impasto
Impasto is a technique used in painting, paint is laid thickly on the surface. The paint needs to be thick enough that the brush or painting knife strokes are visible. The paint is also mixed right on the canvas. Impasto provides texture when dry; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas.
Purpose of impasto .
Paint is applied to a canvas or panel in quantities that make it stand out from the surface. Impasto is frequently usedto mimic the broken-textured quality of highlights—i.e., the surfaces of objects that are struck by an intense light.
