Daisy Watt, a 7-year-old girl, with an amazing artistic talent, has joined some of the biggest names in the contemporary art world on a local gallery’s ‘Stairs of Fame’.
Daisy Watt from Misson in Doncaster, who garnered the support of art lovers and the town folk of Doncaster and with the help of Limited 2 Art raised almost £20,000 for Cancer Research UK and Doncaster based charity Firefly last year with her original ‘Daisy and Daffodil’ painting, has recreated her much loved picture to fit on the staircase at the Bawtry art gallery.
“Daisy joins famous artists such as Kerry Darlington, Edward Waite, David Smith and Stephen Hanson on the Stairs of Fame,” said Ruth Stone of Limited 2 Art. “All have visited our new gallery and we wait with anticipation for the ‘homework’ of Alexander Millar, Craig Everett, Danny Abrahams and Chris De Rubeis who will join Daisy and her artist friends on our amazing staircase.”
Daisy’s inimitable talent and humble, quiet nature saw her original painting sell for over £9,000 at last year’s Equinox Charity Ball with Limited 2 Art generating a further £10,000 from producing and selling a further one hundred limited edition prints from the original. Ten artist proofs and ten boxed canvas prints raised even more money, as demand for this amazing painting was satisfied.
“Daisy has a true talent which I am sure is yet to realise its full potential,” said Ruth. “Words cannot describe how proud I am to have met her through this experience and to have her create such an individual piece for the gallery staircase and I extend my warmest thanks to her and her family”.
Art lovers from across the region will also be treated to two more high profile artist visits next month. On Friday 3rd March, Hollywood artist to the stars and creator of Sponge Bob Square Pants Todd White will visit the gallery, closely followed by Yorkshire based contemporary artist Stephen Hanson on Saturday 11th March whose credits include a two year freelance contract with Aardman Animation – creators of Wallace and Gromit.
