Discovering new talent is always an exciting experience for any art lover and one gallery owner from Bawtry has supported a hugely talented little girl from Misson, Doncaster raise almost £20,000 for a local fundraising ball.
Ruth Worsman, proprietor of Limited 2 Art, Bawtry, Doncaster played her part in raising the profile of Daisy Watts’ stunning picture by framing the piece, displaying it in the gallery and producing 100 limited edition prints, funded by Limited 2 Art, which all sold at £100 each with 100% of the money raised donated to the chosen charities of the Equinox Ball, a fundraising ball which raises funds jointly for Cancer Research UK and Doncaster based charity Firefly.
“It has been a true delight to support Daisy exceed her dream of raising enough money to buy a wheel for the next Firefly vehicle,” said Ruth. “In reality, she has raised almost enough to buy the whole van which is an amazing achievement for a 7-year-old girl, but which recognises the beauty of her art and her incredible talent.”
Daisy’s abstract painting depicts forget-me-nots for those people who have lost their fight against cancer and is balanced with bright flowers for those that survive. And, due to the overwhelming demand for the image, Ruth is now considering producing a number of limited edition canvas prints to allow more people to be able to enjoy Daisy’s painting and raise an additional sum of money.
“The atmosphere during the ball was fantastic and it was amazing to witness one guest bid £9,500 for the original artwork,” said Ruth. “I commend Sarah and Paul Mullen for their efforts in creating such an iconic event and feel proud to have played a small part in beating their target of raising £60,000.”
Limited 2 Art now occupies the old Bawtry Town Hall in the marketplace of the bustling town.
