Contemporary Sculpture

Presenting a most striking collection of contemporary sculpture. Emotionally evocative, fiercely modern, yet remaining utterly affordable. Edge Sculpture is designed and sculpted by Matt Buckley at his studios in Shropshire, England.

Process

This is a collection influenced by style rather than subject. Moreover, the mix of form, light and texture gives a unique feel to each individual piece. Firstly, each subject has been originally sculpted from clay, which allows the creation of pieces that deliver both a dynamic and organic feel. Secondly, the cases and moulds are then developed to ensure the faithful reproduction of the original clay sculpture with the special blend of marble stone castings. Finally, the finishing touch is the skilful application of hand-painting with the end result being a statement piece and talking point for anyone’s home!

Background

Matt Buckley started off his sculpting career over 25 years ago. After being presented with the opportunity to hone his craft by following in the footsteps of his step-father, Robert Harrop. He worked on the ‘Country Companions’ and then the later named ‘Doggie People’ range. Both of which have resided successfully to this day within the ‘giftware’ and ‘collectible’ industry for well over 30 years.

Magic Roundabout

The licensed figurines that Matt has both personally sculpted and presided over include the Beano and Dandy, Camberwick Green, Roald Dahl, Bagpuss, 2000 AD, The Magic Roundabout, Mr Benn, Wallace and Gromit, Doctor Who and Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Stingray, with many pieces being continually produced to this date.
He remains the Creative Director of Robert Harrop Designs Ltd. Indeed the skills and ability to manufacture quality figurines, from within their family run company in Shropshire, has enabled this very new collection of work to become a reality. Subsequently, Edge Sculpture continues to thrive.
This is a very new collection and very much at the beginning of its creative evolution. Matt indeed looks forward to designing, sculpting and producing many new concepts well into the future.
